Die Schmid-Linie ist tief im Oberschwäbischen verwurzelt, im Großraum Ravensburg – Friedrichshafen – Kreßbronn.

Ein handgezeichneter Stammbaum, wahrscheinlich von Onkel Karl, nennt Simon Schmid *1740 und Katharina Katzenmeier, beide aus der freien Reichsstadt Buchhorn (heute Friedrichshafen) als Stammeltern des Geschlechts (Vaterlinie).

Von Simons Sohn Karl Schmid, 1770 – 1840, ist belegt, daß er im Nebenberuf der erste Schultheiß von Friedrichshafen war (1811 – 1820) .

Karl Schmids Sohn Ferdinand (1809 – 1857) wird als „Schloßmüller“ geführt – noch ist nicht klar, um welche der 5 damaligen Mühlen in Friedrichshafen es sich dabei handelte.

Ferdinands Sohn Karl (1847 – 1899), unser Urgroßvater, war von Beruf Bierbrauer und schaffte den Sprung nach Ravensburg – er wurde als erster Schmid Wirt im Gasthof zum Engel, Marienplatz 71, Ravensburg.

Sohn Karl Jakob (1881 – 1930), unser Großvater, führte Brauerei und Gasthof weiter. Er heiratete 1906 Anna Maria Frommlet aus Neuenbach, unsere Großmutter und „Engel-Wirtin“.

Das Paar hatte 4 Kinder: Karl, Maria („Maya“), meinen Vater Franz, und Ernst.
